Acanthaceae » Rungia pectinata (syn. Rungia parviflora) no common name found ... most possibly known in Marathi as sut (I assume it is सूत, meaning thread, referring to its weak stem ... rather than सूट, which means discount, or free from binding) this name appears at Floristic Survey of Institute of Science (this web page takes quite some time to download) ... small annual herb, stems weak, 10-20 cm long, terete. ... leaves, opposite, 1-3 cm, oblong-lanceolate, acute. ... flowers (about 3 mm) in terminal and axillary spikes 6-25 mm, bracts acuminate in 2 rows. (Click on photo for more views) Reference: Further Flowers of Sahyadri by Shrikant Ingalhalikar at Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, Maharashtra. |
