The lingering doubt helped! It is Crawfurdia speciosa, complete with toothed leaves. The picture in Flowers of the Himalaya by Polunin & Stainton, agrees excellently with your pic. And the picture in the book was also taken in Darjeeling! ![]() Crawfurdia is very close to Gentiana.
