Above views of plants from two locations; leaves differed in shape and size ... however I believe them both to be C. elongata;  because this species is the only Cissus plant that is palmate-leaved. Another close species is C. pedata which has lobed leaves with deep sinuses, almost resembling palmate leaves.

2) Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai ... 11 JUL 09

Good catch Dinesh! I did not know that there was a Cissus with digitate leaves.
Any clues to why the elongata?
Does the Marathi name suggest that the fruit/seed could cause itching?!

Dear Tabish, the catch is good -- but it could be a no ball !!!

Please hold this ID at bay ... at IndianTreePix, Rani ji says it to be Cyphostemma auriculata. Let me collect more information; meanwhile I am sure you will check on this delivery (at your leisure).

Regards.
