My friend Ryan thinks this to be Paracaryopsis coelestina (Common Hill Borage) ... so I can be mistaken. ... large erect perennial herb, 1-2 m ... branches and stems are green and hairy ... and depending on this identifier: flowers in forked terminal racemes. --Last edited by dinesh valke on 2008-10-01 13:49:18 -- |

Hmm... I was also trying to spot some difference between this and the Paracaryopsis coelestina we already have. Have to do some more scrutiny. I don't know what a forked raceme means, but in the long shot, the stem doesn't appear green, in color. --Last edited by tabish on 2008-10-01 15:09:36 -- |

I agree Tabish, that the stem colour is not green through out; in fact it does look red which fits descrïption of P. coelestina. I re-checked both the descrïptions, and I found that I unnecessarily stressed on "forked raceme" ... actually both species have that, I had overlooked that part. Now, the descrïptions look almost same except for the colour of stems and branches, and size of leaves. In FFOS, for P. lambertiana the illustration of flowers, and especially buds show white flowers unlike pinkish of P. coelestina in FOS ... this visual difference must have got stuck in my mind. So much said, I think my plant must be P. coelestina |

okay. Good that we saw the light of truth so fast! :-) By the way, can't resist mentioning that the site now has more than 2000 flowers. And the site is only about 1200 days old! Not bad! Cheers to all of us! --Last edited by tabish on 2008-10-02 00:01:48 -- |

I believe this one must be Paracaryopsis lambertiana for sure. ... click on photo for more views commonly known as: Lambert's borage • Marathi: हिरवी निसुर्डी hirvi nisurdi near Lion's Point, Lonavala Reference: FFOS |
