Hmmm yes, I could not get any info related to Sambucus in Sahyadris ... however in FFOS, Inghalhalikar illustrates a photo ditto what I or Shaista has, labelled very simply: Sambucus sp.

I think we can assume that the divided leaflets are what are referred to lobes.

So, I think we all agree that all the specimens discussed till now are S. candensis.
We will worry about S. javanica when we get fresh inputs. I will try to explore it on my next visit to North-East.

I dont know how u guys can see any lobes in there. I can see a divided leaflet at one of the places where dinesh doubts...where he has added notes. And in the pics i clicked, there is no such feature at all. Does that make it Javanica?
I too will take care of this one in my next trip to Bangalore.

Shaista, lowest leaflets may or may not be lobed (or divided) in S. canadensis

It is more likely that we all found S. candensis separately.
