... a tiny member of Convulvulaceae (I hope I am not mistaken about the family) ... perhaps, some Argyreia sp. ?

It seems to be small herbaceous climber.

Habitat: I saw it along path-way in scrub.

Dinesh, this could be Arrow-leaf Morning Glory (Xenostegia tridentata)

The flowers are variable in color, and can be white with a maroon center.

Not a good guess! Your flowers are still smaller, and are almost stalkless, whereas the stalks of Xenostegia tridentata are prominently long.
