Looks like Begonia grandis. See the following links: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/53756/ http://www.flowersofindia.net/catalog/slides/Hardy%20Begonia.html |

I had seen B. grandis at FOI, had ruled out considering the cup like structure holding the cluster of stamens. The same is seen at Dave's Garden ... wondering whether it is some other species / hybrid. |

Dear Tabish, this one turns out to be Begonia 'Dragon Wing' Identified by Tanay Bose, flickr contact; his comment: **************************************** this is "Begonia 'Dragon Wing'" because male flowers (2 petals) and female flowers (5 petals) on same plant that both droop, this image is of female flowers which has 5 petals which is clear from u r photo, and the major character is its winged petal and hence its name. But dinesh always try to take the photo of inflorescence along with its vegetative parts it helps a lot during identification because simple venation, size, orthosticy can denominate a species **************************************** |
