When photograph of a flower is sent for identification, it is best to give some more details about the plant. If foliage too appears in the photograph it will be easy to pinpoint a particular species.

Sorry, the letters in my posting almost merged with the background. Hence I am posting it again.

... besides making the diagnosis easy ... it is a great joy to see the beauty of leaves, the stem, the fruit .... just about all different parts of the plant ...

Many a times, I have given up identifying the plants in my pictures - only because of my own folly - not having covered other aspects of the plant.

The difficulty arises usually when there are many species of a genus, with very subtle differences ...

[To date, I am not satisfied with identifying Ixora species in my pictures !!]

Now, I make it a point to shoot from 2-3 different angles ... AND ... one or two long shots in different perspectives ... proves very helpful to know the habitat and nature of wilderness.

To me, Nandan's thought is a great pointer.
