Bhartiae, welcome to the forum! The information you desire, seems to be a lot. Probably, it will be better to go step by step. 1. Different varieties of fragrant plants are listed in a separate section on the Flowers of India (FOI) site. 2. FOI does not carry gardening information. You can pick up a particular plant, search the internet for gardening tips on it. If you have a specific question, you can post it in the gardening section here. 3. To find where a plant is available, you can browse the list of nurseries on the FOI site. It might help in picking up a suitable nursery. 4. I think fragrant flowers attracting snakes is just a grandma's tale! --Last edited by tabish on 2007-12-15 00:56:51 -- |

The Nerium Indicum or Nerium Odorum also known as Nerium oleander is in my opinion, the easiest, fastest growing shrub producing the most heavenly fragranced blooms - light / dark pink, magenta, white - single and double. If you buy a 2ft tall shrub from a nursery you will get blooms within 6 months. Much faster than plumeria which is of the same family. In Mumbai, nerium blooms almost continuously throughout the year. |
